Serious problem with left arm

Re: Serious problem with left arm

history has shown that the ordinary joe can't make good choices based on proper judgement since he's just plain stupid.

Who decides - based on what?
How would you characterize yourself with respect to the "Stupid" scale?

Also to the Op - I agree - rest. Twice I have had knee trouble from running. Both times rest fixed it - both times 3 years.

Re: Serious problem with left arm

I've strained muscles and such by doing manual labor, such that they felt like jelly for several days...so weak that it felt as if I was partially paralyzed. But I think 20 days is excessive. I would see a doctor.

Re: Serious problem with left arm

Ah, dammit. I just helped one of my friends move his bed around in his room. Had to lift it up to move it. After 5 minutes I started feeling a slight pain in my left forearm. I dunno wtf is wrong.

It can't be arthritis or tendonitis, I think. Those would have to be gradual, not happen full blown overnight....

I have yet to take any meds this whole time. I think I might have some inflammed (tissue?) from the lifting or something. Maybe torn muscle? How long does a torn muscle take to go away?

I am going to go buy some ibuprofen for 30 days, massage my arm everyday. If I still can't play guitar without feeling this crap then I will know its serious and go to the doc.

The doc has already come to you.

QUIT STRESSING YOUR ARM!!!

Take that ibuprofen and let your arm heal.

If you tore a muscle (which IS a possibility) it should heal pretty quickly
(a couple weeks or so) and be good to go. Tendonitis can happen "suddenly" and can take several months to get better and any stressing will make it take much longer.

Re: Serious problem with left arm

Tendonitis is an inflammation between the tendon and its tissue (like a wire with its leads and its insulation;)). Maybe the injury of the tissue needs time (usually) to develop but the inflammation itself doesn't. (I know a bit of those things as my father is a doc ), 3 days are enough once you've injured the tissue.

It could be a muscle rupture too, which is a lighter situation (this one happens in no time) but it needs time to heal. It depends on where you're aching exactly.

Anyway, I'd go to a doctor. I know a girl who's a pianist who didn't take the treatment needed for her tendonitis and she has it for years now.
