Seth and CC

Re: Seth and CC

I use the Seth and CC combination in my Hamer Monoco...it's a semi hollowbody. Works beautifully for Jazz and Blues in that guitar. The Seth for blues and jazz chords and soloing, and the CC for more modern soloing tones. They combine well too. The CC sounds best in a fairly lively and resonant guitar, IMO...a guitar with some depth. Lew

Sounds like it's just what I want.

Now I will be looking for the guitar you described with a 60s slim neck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

WOW it looks perfect BUT all I could do anytime soon would be to trade for my Monaco elite Custom, Trans Cherry w/ gold hardware & Victory inlays it's real pretty.
I did't think the super pro had the thin neck, I thuoght it was the thicker neck like my monaco.

I would guess it's alot like your Elite. It's not a big clubby neck at all...just a nice full neck. 25 1/2" scale like a Gibson L-5 or Fender Strat or Tele. I need to sell it...need the cash. Thanks! Lew

Hey Lew, how does the Seth/CC combo preform under some gain?

Awesome! My buddy Rondo and I compared my Monoco with the Seth/CC combo to several guitars one afternoon:

1. '03 Gibson Historic Les Paul with Burstbuckers = Rondo's
2. '00 Gibson Historic Les Paul with Tom Holmes HB's = Mine
3. '02 Hamer Monoco with Seth and CC = Mine

We played it through my '59 Bassman, '51 Super, '54 Super and '59 Deluxe and '66 Deluxe Reverb...cranked!

Rondo played about 10 seconds on my Monoco stopped, looked up and said "this might be the best one rioght here".

All I could do is agree. I thought of the three, my Monoco was the best, then it wa a tie between the two Les Pauls.

Rondo's reminded me most of Clapton's Bluesbreakers and Cream LP's...mine reminded more of Jeff Beck's Truth era LP and had more sizzle and power.

But the Monoco sounded slightly better than either.

Thanks! I'll have to give that combo a go in my next project guitar.

I do want to say that I use the Seth/CC combo in a semi hollowbody guitar...not a solid body. This combo did sound very good in my solid body '92 Hamer Studio Custom, especially through a cranked Marshall or 59 Bassman, but it sounds spectacular in my semi hollow body guitar, which is more resonant and livlier than a solid body.
