Seth Lover SH 55

I was out the other night and saw a great band, the lead guitarist had smokin tone, at break I asked him what he had for electronics in his Les Paul as his tone was incredible!!!!
He advised me of an RS upgrade kit and that He had Seymour Duncan, Seth Lover SH 55 Bridge pickup, I realize that wood and technique all have a say in tone, however this guitar sounded like pure PAF old school tone, type.
He claimed that when this pup was installed, it did this.
So has anyone tried these or does anyone have these and if so, what was your experience ????????

i use a seth in the neck of my most played guitar and its beautiful. seths are great vintage toned paf style pups.

I have a seth lover in the bridge of my PRS (mahogany), it sounds really nice and balanced. A really good vintage tone, with enough bite and finally a good sounding clean bridge pickup. I had a custom in the bridge position before that but it was a bit too harsh in the hi end at times but good for heavy rythm work. I highly recommend the seth lover.

My ASAT had a Seth in the neck. I've replaced it with a P-Rail but it was a great sounding pickup and will likely find its way into something else soon enough.

I have RS Vintage /historic upgrade kit, wired 50's style in configuration:
500 K superpots for Volume and 500 K linear for tone, .022 mf Sprague NOS cap at bridge and .015 mf at the neck Sprague NOS (Vitamine Q's) the original caps in the kit are RS Jensons paper in oil which I also liked.
There is a Tone I still am missing however I am So Close with what I got, just missing something small and trying to find it, was thinking the SH55's might do it

I got an RSGuitarworks vintage kit in my LP. Pick ups are Brobucker bridge and an uncovered Seth(bridge) in the neck.... I doubt I'll EVER mod that again.

If you forget about all the numbers and specs, and just listen to pickups as toneshapers, the Seths rank very highly. People always pigeonhole themselves based on specs or vintage and modern, but they should be thinking about nothing but good tone.

When listening to the Duncan clips, there are a handful of humbuckers that sound better than the rest.....at least to me, and the Seth is definitely one of them.

I guess there's some specs that just got done right the first time.

Both of my Terry C. McInturff, Polaris's have Seth Lover neck & bridge pickups in them and they sound great. The Seth Lover is my favorite non G&L humbucker.

What does a Seth neck pair up good with for the bridge?

I did what Zhangliun recommended: i put an A4 in the seth neck - great. I did some swaps in the bridge (Ant bridge, Custom/59 Hybrid, 59B and JazzB) and i liked the JazzB so far. Its a A5 like the 59, but has more mids. Its great distorted too.

Have had a set of Seths in my '61 SG/LP reissue for a few years and love them. Great old Cream-era Clapton tone.

A lot of People really like a low output and very prominent midrange pup, if you also like this sound then a Seth Is for you.
A lot of people really like a recessed or scooped midrange, if this is you then a Seth is not for you.
A lot of people really like a well balanced pup that has very little frequency anomalies, ( These people usually prefer to hear more of the natural sound of their guitar ) if this is you then a Seth is not for you.
A lot of people like a high output exciting sounding pup, if this is you then a Seth is not for you
Etc, etc.
Bottom line is if you like a really midrange rich sounding pup in a really rich sounding Les Paul then you have a really, really rich sound.
Some call this overkill - others call it Heaven.
