seth lovers in a les paul, wiring schematic?

I'm putting a set of seth lovers in a les paul, and want to do it the 'right' traditional way.

Anyone have any pics/schematics of the period-correct wiring schematic?

Also, what were the standard potentiometer values? caps?

I want this to be as authentic vintage PAF as a new-ish guitar can be.

Thanks!

Just run the pup lead wire to the farthest left terminal of the volume pot for both pups, run the selector switch wire to the center lug of the volume pots, then get 2 bumble bee caps .022 and wire them from the outer right lug of the tone pots to the center lug of the volume pots. Then get some good wire and run grounds from pot to pot starting at the neck volume pot to the neck tone, to the bridge tone and end at the bridge volume. Thats how the 50`s LP`s were wired.

Much thanks guys, the phat cat schematic is really helpful.

I'm assuming 250k pots, audio taper on volume, linear on tone?

I'll be using orange drop .022 caps, as they are what I've got lying around. I do have a vitamin Q cap, not that it makes much difference, but should I throw that in the neck or bridge pickup controls?

Re: seth lovers in a les paul, wiring schematic?

Use 500k pots for humbuckers....250k is usually for single coils. Use audio taper for all pots....you'll be happier. Linear will work, but audio is better, IMO. Orange drop .22's are fine. What value is the vitamin Q? If it's the same value as the OD's and you like it better put it on whichever pickup you use most or like better.

yep, 500k audios all around with orange drops would be a great setup. it's what i've got in all my humbucker setups:fing2:

Re: seth lovers in a les paul, wiring schematic?

if you want to keep it true vintage wiring don`t run the caps from the tone pot center lug to the top of the pot, leave off the wire from the tone pot to the volume pot and put the cap there. You can double check on the mylespaul forum, I am 99% possitive that modern wiring places the cap from the tone pot to the pup input lug on the volume pot and vintage wiring places the cap from the tone pot lug to the toggle switch lug on the volume pot. Then on both tone pots just bend the center lug back against the pot and solder to ground it, you can leave the outer leg or just snip it off.
