Seth Lovers Noisy?

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

More likely, they'll be noisy pickups with high volume. Unpotted pickups seem prone to feedback and other microphonic effects. If you can keep a feedback loop from forming, you should be fine with a little overdrive.

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

I have a set in my LP Trad Pro Plus. They're beautiful under gain up to moderate levels -- think most classic rock. High gain? They get a little noisy.

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

Have one in my tele's neck slot, have the gain on 5, with boost in (on my peavey ultra plus), and no problems here.

Howdy,

Would it bother you to learn first hand that say..Halle Berry had a big red pimple on her lovely bottom? LOL. I'll bet the Seth Lover sounds just fine. ;)

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

Not really. The covers are attached pretty tight on Seths and Ants so you get minimal microphonics compared to say....a cheap no name pup. I say that because those terrible squeals is what most people think of. When a Seth or Ant feeds back it's usually at a lower frequency and is useable for a solo or something.

Why would they be any noisier than any other humbucker? The technology is exactly the same as any other Duncan product. They may be more prone to feedback but this is something else entirely

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

I had a bridge S.L in the neck of my LP and to be honest it did squeal with medium+ gain. I took the cover off and it was fine.... sounded darn good too. I now have a Ant bridge in that same guitar in the neck with no problems.

+1

I have both Seths and Ants, using a Mesa amp for Classic Rock and Blues, though my band is pretty moderate when it comes to volume. When I have gotten feedback, is musical and useable, not screeching.

Of course, you could order them potted from the Custom Shop.

Re: Seth Lovers Noisy?

The pickups themselves are fine, although a little soft on the bottom end. Any microphonic issue with PAF type pickups can be solved by a quick dunk in wax.

I potted my nickel Brobucker, just because it squealed under volume and gain after installation.
