Setting up a delay

Reckless Abandon

New member
I have a boss dd-3 I have not figured out yet. I want it set up for an 80's metal type sound. Like lynch, vai, demartini and others used when it was used for most of a song. Anyone have setting. I.e. I have never owned a delay before so I am in the dark.
thanks

Re: Setting up a delay

Approx 250 - 300 ms. delay, 15% - 20% regeneration (1.5 to 2 or so repeats), 15% - 25% mix with dry signal gets you in the ballpark of popular lead delay sounds. Mix and adjust to taste. It should be subtle, do a bend and listen to the ghosting effect that the delay will give....it will primarily thicken the sound a tad and give a more vocal quality.
