Seymour Duncan and .047 caps + a few more Q's

I use 500k No Load tone pots that I make myself...

John, how do you make these pots? Are they easy to make. I have taken a few pots apart, but never thought about putting them back together before.

They are easy if you know what you're doing! ;o) On my way out shortly, but I will look for the info on how to do it,unless somebody else posts it...It's a Ken Fischer mod that is in one of the Weber amp books here at home...He doesn't call it a No Load tone pot and his idea(mod) came out before Fender started using them..I think he called it the "Drop Out pot" or something like that...

Some folks use nail polish, but basically you are just removing or covering up the carbon area of the pot in the 9 to 10 positions on the pot...When the tone pot is on 10,both the pot resistance and the cap are out of the equation..You are creating an open circuit when the pot is set to 10...I always just scrape the carbon away..

333 number on cap means 33000pF which is the same as .033uF or .033mfd. the last "3 in the code denotes the number of zeros to add to the first two numbers. So a code of 502 means 5000pF or .005uF. 223 would be 22000pF or .022uF

I put it back together and I used the original caps. They do roll off slowly which is fine. If I ever take it apart again I might put a .047 on the bridge tone pot. Seth Lovers are nice sounding pickups. I went over all of the ground connections and made sure the braided lead wire wouldn't make contact with any of the pot connections but there is a very slight buzz going on. Not real loud like a single coil or anytjing, about the same as one of my other humbucker guitars. It stops if I touch the cable or stick a finger thru the f hole to touch a pot. Not if I touch the bridge though.
