More dynamic? I would describe a JB as compressed, aka less dynamic. Especially since this one has a ceramic magnet.

Wow! These guys really listen. We were just talking about this a few days ago. Good job Seymour.

I've always thought the JB & tele as a winning couple, there is something in the JB eq which reminds me the biting upper mid of a good tele pickup. The JB has ever been for me the natural 'tele on steroids' sound

Would you need a 500k pot in your Tele to get the most out of the JB?

Would you need a 500k pot in your Tele to get the most out of the JB?
This is something I'd also like to know. The original JB was built around two 250k pots in a Tele. Is the JB Jr. Tele designed to sound the same as a full sized JB, or is it designed to sound like a JB with 500k pots when wired into 250k pots?

Hopefully that makes sense. Either way its splitting hairs

I was asking because I currently have a Tele with a STL-2 in the bridge and a SH-18 in the neck. It’s a great combo in terms of output and tone. But the bridge pup is noisy as hell and I’ve been thinking about going with noiseless option. I’m wondering if the little JB would be a good replacement. Hmm…

Keep in mind that the JB Jr for Tele in *no way* resembles or responds like a Tele pickup. Also look at the Hot Chicken and Hot Stack for Tele to keep the Tele sound (if that's your goal).
I have a hot stack and I can confirm, it's in the same ballpark of a traditional tele sound, much hotter

The JB Jr is for those that love the Tele form factor (and don't want to carve up their guitars), but want to sound like a hard rock machine.

I want to sound like a hard rock machine. :)

Speaking of which…I know that JB jr. is new, but how do you think it compares to something like the Hot Rails Tele pup? For a high gain bridge option?

The Hot Rails Tele dark and sludgy. The JB Jr has that upper mid thing going on.
Ok thanks. :)

One more question:

I like the tones of my STL-2/SH-18 combo. I use 500K pots for both volume and tone because the STL is very dark to my ears and I like the extra presence. It also works prefectly with that SH-18.

Do you think the JB jr would be too bright as a replacement in that scenario? If I like the darkness of the STL, do you think the Hot Rails would be a better fit for a high gain option? In other words, do you think the Hot Rails would be a better fit for 500K pots than the JB jr?
