Seymour Duncan convertee????

Mr Bungle

Hey all, being a Dimarzio user for 20+ yrs (ducks for cover) I was wondering if possible anyone would know the "Seymour" equivalent to the Dimarzio Tone Zone & Paf Pro.

I realise this may be a little difficult to get an answer to, but thought I'd give it a shot.

If it has any bearing on what pickups I choose,..I'm playing in a 80's Metal Tribute band, and influence's( play style) is Paul Gilbert, Andy Larocque, type tone, leaning more towards the buttery Andy Larocque side...

Thanks in advance,

Well, right off the bat, if you're going for a neck pickup that has PAF flavor but more bite and clarity, that is the Duncan Jazz, my friend.

As far as bridge pickups, the tone zone is a big meaty sounding pickup in the right guitar, and mud in other guitars. For a great all around rock pickup, the Duncan Custom is hard to beat. Big lows, defined highs, big crunchy mids. PAF flavor with more balls. The new, Alternative 8 bucker, by description, is a more modern sounding bucker, so that might be the ticket.

Alt8 + Jazz.

Anyone else got suggestions for Mr Bungle here?

K, thanks for the reply...stuff to consider.

I have a Tone Zone in an alder body, and a basswood 7 string as well. Sounds great in the alder,..but way too dark in the basswood, that was a mistake.

The guitar I'll be shopping for Duncans to put in is a RGT220A(Ash) so if there were a "tone zone" like Seymour I think I'd be safe with it being such a bright guitar to begin with.

Thanks again for the reply...
