Seymour Duncan Hot Rails

I just recently had pickups put in my American strat. Cool Rails in the neck Vintage Rails in the middle and Hot Rails in the bridge. All is good except my Hot Rails sounds weak like a single coil and has a lot of buzz. Could it be wired wrong?

Sounds like one of the coils is shorted. I let a friend install a Custom5 in a Strat I was using about a decade ago and couldn't figure out why it was so weak and noisy. When I pulled the guard to swap pickups, I discovered that one of the C5's coils was shorted so it had effectively been split the whole time.

Almost certainly wired wrong or something like that.

+1 on "or somthing like that". I'm sorry, man, that is really funny, can't stop laughing. First time I ever laughed out loud at a Forum post! Or something like that. man, that's top funny. rich!

The "or something like that" is a critical qualifying phrase. Maybe it's not wired wrong per se, but instead there's a short that results from two conductive points unintentionally touching when the pickguard is fastened in place. Or something like that.

Pigbacon,
Not wired wrong per se, but could be a short. Yes, of course, how could I miss this obviously qualifying critical phrase. Your clear and way above my head grasp of string theory pickup quantum "whatever" physics shames me. I now wish I never broke off my friendship with all my buddies from the Manhatten Project. But Fennyman was being a *ick to me after I sat on his bongos and I criticized his internal collapsing nuclear protaganist.
Or something like that.

Re: Seymour Duncan Hot Rails

Just got back from the Guitar Center and working with Seymour Duncan tech support we discovered that the hot rails was wired out of phase with itself. Switched a few wires around and now I have a screaming hot rails with no buzz. Thanks for your input.
