Seymour Duncan JBJ P90

I found a Seymour Duncan JBJ P90 for sale, and I'm trying to figure out if it is legit; I can't find any information about it. Has this pickup ever been manufactured? If not, could it be a custom job? Here is the back plate:

Welcome to the forum.

I read the ID sticker as 1BJ. SP90-1B, Vintage for bridge/Treble position.

In my opinion, the J looks suspiciously like it has been added, after the fact, in somebody's handwriting.

For what it is worth, there are several similar model names that could cause confusion.

JB Junior = Stratocaster-sized, noise cancelling, high output pickup
JBJ = Old type model ID sticker found on SH-4 JB humbuckers wound by Maricela Juarez.
JB90 = Custom Shop special order SH-4 JB, physically altered to fit under a P90-sized cover.

I figured I'd take a chance and buy it regardless. $35 for a Duncan P-90 that has to sound better than the $18 Mighty Mite and the $10 Catriona P-90s I have. It's also hotter than my current P-90 (9.6k vs 7.94k).

I got the pickup and installed it. Definitely sounds better than the cheap ones I wasted money on. Here is a better look at the sticker. It is definitely a 1B or IB with a hand written looking J. It is 9.6k; is that too hot to be vintage?

Re: Seymour Duncan JBJ P90

On original Gibson guitars, both P90s would have been identical. In practice, this would tend to make the bridge/Treble position unit seem weak compared to an identical pickup in the neck/Rhythm position. The SD SP90-1b is slightly overwound to compensate.
