Seymour Duncan psyclones

I’ve never posted on a forum before, so I hope this is the right way to do it. But I have a 2016 fender duo sonic that I swapped the bridge pickup for a psyclone, and the neck for one of the Seymour Duncan lipstick ones. My guitar was able to coil split prior to having the change done. I guess my question is “can you split the psyclone pickups?” I took it to GC to have them do the work to it because at the time I didn’t wanna fuss with it. I’m not sure if he just didn’t want to do it, or if it’s not possible. Thank you!

welcome to the forum!

id assume they are wired as a normal humbucker which means, as long as they have 4cond wiring, you could split them. if they are single conductor with braid, then you cant split them without rewiring internally to get 4 cond wiring, but i believe that stock they are 4 cond

For reference...look at the pickup wires:

Awesome. Idk why he didn’t wire it that way then. I guess that’s why you should do it yourself lol. I guess I got a project now lol

Well, as you hang around here, any fears about guitar wiring will sort of melt away. We have some people here who are really experts, and we all like to help you tackle these sorts of jobs yourself.

Both of the pickups have a white and black wire only, so I’m assuming I don’t have the 4 I need to do a split coil wiring job?

nope. thats 2 cond wiring, so no coil splitting unless you open it up and rewire it. ive only wired up the psyclone humbucker and that had 4cond, but the person could have specifically ordered it that way.

I'm pretty sure my Psyclones were 4-conductor, and the website describes them that way. Can you post a pic? Maybe the person I sold them to can chime in.

BTW, I loved them, but they weren't enough different from the stock Gretsch Filter'Tron's to justify the cost.
