Seymour Duncan SA-3XL Woody Black Hum Cancelling inline with a Volume control inline.
I've got an Ovation acoustic guitar a shallow bowel Celebrity. I don't use any of the internal electronics of the guitar.
I will mount the volume control in the same spot as the existing volume control that I do not use in the Ovation .
I just bought the woody and I want to go inline with a volume control before it hits the output jack which is one of those in the strap holder jack of the guitar I installed.
I'm not sure which size potentiomenter I should use. 500k or 250 K audio taper?
If I wire staight to the pot and then to the jack will this cause me noise problems?
Because the connection of the area will be exposed?
I'd use shielded cable.
3 contacts on pot. I guess the 1) lug would be for positive wire of the woody pickup;
the 2) lug would be for the positive or where the tip of guitar chord plug contacts;
the 3) lug goes to ground for all of them and the back of the potentiometer.
I guess this might void my warranty. So I want to get it right.
Thankyou,

welcome to the forum!

yes, im sure you will void your warranty by modifying the pup.

i would use a 500k or even 1meg volume control to keep as much high end detail as possible. i would use shielded wire to minimize noise. as far as wiring, im going to assume that the woody only has a hot and ground wire so youd follow this diagram. minus the bridge ground wire since the bridge is wood.

Thankyou for your reply. Yes, I will go with a 500k I'm thinking since that is what Gibson humbuckers usually use and it's a stacked humbucker from what I'm seeing from the literature. Fender single coils usually use 250k. So I'm gonna use a stock gibson 500k style volume control and knob. Yes I'll use the cable that comes out of the Woody as it's shielded. Checking making sure it works correctly before I cut the cable and assume I'm voiding the warranty. Thankyou for your reply and the schematic.
