Seymour Duncan SLS- 1 Lipstick Tube Pickup

How is this wired?

Is the Bobbin different because its in circles and a tube?

What does the Metal Tube do ? is it magnetized?

Re: Seymour Duncan SLS- 1 Lipstick Tube Pickup

These pickups had an alnico bar magnet and coil measuring 4.75k ohms wrapped in brown vinyl tape

Re: Seymour Duncan SLS- 1 Lipstick Tube Pickup

The wire is wrapped directly around the magnet, which acts as a bar polepiece. The onew in my Danelectro measure circa 3.5k. The cover is what physically holds the pickups together, and no, it is not magnetized. As far as gold tubes, all that is doe is that the tubes are gold plated prior to assembly.

The wire coil is not wrap like a regular bobbin pickup where it goes around

The lip stick wraps around like wraping wire around a Steel Pole vertical
like wraping a wire around your finger

What is this called of wrapping the wire around a steel bar magnet like wraping the wire around your finger?

How is the Magnetic Field Different doing this way ?

If the Frequency Response different because we are wraping the coil different around a steel pole?
