Seymour Duncan STK-S1N

Hello folks.

I´m getting one thats used but the model seems to be discontinued by Seymour Duncan.
So i´d like to know everything you know about basically.
All i´ve heard is that it´s stacked (hum-cancelling) and got Alnico 5 magnets and vintage output which is my cup of tea :)
If it has a bridge partner that´s just slightly hotter please let me know.
It´s going in my Strat which i´m refretting for the moment and i´m gonna give it a try with 500kOhm pots :)

Have a great evening :) (it´s evening in Sweden)

Re: Seymour Duncan STK-S1N

Hi. I am probably not the best person to be answering your thread. I have "attitude" towards stacked coil, noise-cancelling, replacement pickups styled after single coil designs of both Fender and Gibson.

As you already know, a newer generation of Strat Stack has replaced the type that you have just bought. This ought to tell you that the manufacturer thought there was room for improvement.

AFAIR, the first generation Stacks for Stratocaster came either singly or in a calibrated set of three. There was also a Hot Stack but this featured a bar polepiece rather than individual rod magnets.

Hi if you mean the Parallel Axis STK1n I mounted it on my project just on saturday. Since I've coupled it with the PA distortion I had quite a few expectations. However, its output is just miserable compared to the PA Distortion (21K!!!) so anytime I switch from bridge to neck there quite a gap in volume...

I'll try to set the stk1n little bit higher but I seriusly doubt things will be much better...

If you coupled it with either the PA Classic or the PA Saraceno you'd get for sure a better result than what I got ;-)
