Seymour's Been Naughty Again...

Re: Seymour's Been Naughty Again...

I really don't get the stainless frets thing!

Which is weird, because I spec' stainless in most of my non-guitar projects.

Always heard that it wasn't great, and happy with normal frets.
You might get it if you had a chance to try 'em. The much longer life compared to nickel/silver is the frosting on the cake compared to the silky bends you can do with 'em.

You're probably right. I've just read a lot of comment that didn't rate them for one reason or another. Being a lefty, happening across a guitar that has them, so that I can try them out, is hard. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet on my next purchase or more likely project.

Re: Seymour's Been Naughty Again...

Some people say that stainless frets sounf different, more bright. I've never noticed it on the few that I've had a chance to play, but then again I wouldn't know how the same guitar sounded with regular frets.

My guess is that in a high-dollar guitar like the Hamer, the builder would factor that in when choosing pickups too. Those christian pickups are special order, and Hamer has a history of specing out pickups with Seymour. I just wonder what that thing sounds like.

That guitar just exudes class, elegance and sophistication.
Some bebop jazz player is gonna be wearing a big smile.
