if you play through a SF or a BF Fender amp where do you keep your tone controls, what model amps is it and are you using buckers or singles most of the time...also if you use a dirt box what kind is it?
on my '66 bassman.... on both channels the bass is about 5 1/2, unless i'm doing quiet stuff, then i turn it up. On the normal channel, i've got my treble about 4, on the bass channel at about 8 (with the deep switch on). I have my volume anywhere from 2 1/2 to dimed. I use humbuckers mostly... no distortion pedal, i let the amp take care of that for me.
I have a 1969 Fender Super Reverb (SF). I try to keep it clean so here are my settings
Volume.....3
Bass........9
Treble......6 to 7
Presence..... 5
Reverb...... 4
I use this Amp primarily for clean stuff. I have a TS9 that I use with this Amp, but I also A/B this with a Marshall 900. Clean is the key!! I use both single coils, and Humbuckers. I have Strats, Teles, LP, 335, SG. I usually do not change settings when I change guitars!
some general settings for a lot of these:
volume at 4
tone knobs halfway, then adjust from there to suit the tubes, bias point, and the particular guitar
My transitional BF/blonde Tremolux and SF Princeton have only bass and treble controls, so I usually put the bass on 5 (noon) and the treble on 4 to 5 to emphasize the mids with my Fender Teles and Strats. With Gibsons/HBs, I push the treble up to 6 or 7 and cut the bass back to 3 or 4 (more treble and less bass on the Tremolux especially because of the closed back cab). The Tremolux is one of the fattest sounding BF/SF amps I've ever heard, and the Princeton is just plain sweet and clean.
I have a 68 Pro Reverb. With this amp, I'm always switchin' things up like a bisexual, depending on the sound I'm goin' for. It's a pretty versitile bugger.
I play and exquire and a strat through an EH reverb, and '59 bassman:
Vol. 9
Bass 10
Mid 3
Treb 4
Presence 5
I love natural tube breakup through 4 tens
I have a '75 Deluxe Reverb with a Mesa Vintage Black Shadow speaker. I set the treble at about 3-4 and the bass about 5-7, depending on which channel I'm using (the vibrato channel is a bit brighter than the normal channel). Reverb is always at about 3.
I play a Strat and Tele, also have an LP copy. I tend to use similar tone settings for each guitar.
For "dirt" I use either an EH Hot Tubes (old SS version) or a TS-5. Sometimes I even use a Zoom 505 set for Overdrive.
