SG bridge pickup recommendations

Re: SG bridge pickup recommendations

If you like the JB that much, you might like it there too. I don't tend to like it in mahogany in general, unless I have an A2 magnet in it. An SG has strong natural mids from the mahogany, but is weaker on bass and treble because of the thinner body and no maple cap. Pickups with less bass and strong mids tend to create too much of a good thing in an SG. Pickups that emphasize bass and treble and have a bit of a scoop in the mids tend to balance better. Examples: 59b, Custom5, Custom UOA5, Steve's Special, Screaming Demon. The opposite is true of a Les Paul.

That is my take on it, I have seen others run a CustomCustom in an SG and be happy.

Got a new JB on the way for the SG.
It was fate. I was looking at the JB on MusiciansFriend.com and they had the black JB on sale for $59.99. Down from the usual $72.95. Then I found a coupon code for 15% off and got the JB for $50. Was meant to be.

The JB could be awesome. I love the JB in two of my all mahogany set neck guitars, but it was terrible in a third, so it depends on the piece of mahogany.
