My black SG was pretty popular in years past... The blue/green one joined it about a year ago.

I'd really love to refret the blue one too, but not sure when that'll be in the budget. The black one as it stands is pretty much the perfect guitar for what I'm playing these days.

I've owned this heavily moded 62 LP/SG special since the middle 70s.. thinnest neck I've ever played and the tone is magical as you probably guessed..

Off topic... How are you guys inserting full images?

love that! what are the pups?

I love the pickguard on that. What do you think of the SNSs, particularly the neck?
Thanks.
:)
I love the SNS set. However, the neck is the gem of the set. For example, I could see replacing the bridge model with something else like a custom or something for a different vibe—but I’d keep the neck. But the neck pickup is smooth and very well-rounded. It’s probably not a world of difference from a 59, but maybe a tad fuller sounding.

Has it been refinished? I'm pretty sure they didn't offer SG Specials in ebony in 1962.

You are absolutely correct! She is a super mutt but that's what I love so much about her.

I was probably 14 years old (which made it 1976) and I was visiting my grandparents in Columbus Ohio. I went into a music store that had an incredible selection which included two Les Paul sg's side by side. One was original, where mine had Grover tuners, a badass bridge and had been routed from p90s into DiMarzio Pafs... and yes it had been painted black. Mine played better than any guitar I had ever touched and I immediately bought it with a loan from my dad.

It has a ridiculously thin neck and incredible punch and remained one of my main performance guitars until roughly 2000. Because it had been heavily modified, it's only got about half the value of the mint rare birds, so I felt great taking it out in the real world and it usually led to great conversations with guitarists who wanted to try it out :-)

Now if I'd gone with the mint LP SG that was next to it, I would have a lot more potential when cashing out.. but it didn't play nearly as well as mine and its a great feeling standing on stage with a guitar that has such incredible history.

I've always said she roars like a Sasquatch.. there's something special about that old mahogany.
