SG Standard or Amercan fat strat?

Re: SG Standard or Amercan fat strat?

But we all know that G&L has OUTSTANDING quality. Even their imports are comparable, and maybe even better, than some USA Fenders or Gibsons.

No, we don't all know that. And I'm sure many Fender and Gibson owners would disagree with you.

Eh, I have played plenty of GnL guitars. I prefer Fender and Gibson.

By the way guys, I decided on a PRS McCarty. :) :) :) but will probably change my mind tomorrow. LOL!

Went and played a bunch of guitars and as much as I like PRS, they can't hold a candle to Fender and Gibson..every Fender and Gibson had way more Tone and Mojo? the SG Standards were rockin hard!!!!

I decided on an SG Standard and will install a Rio Grande BBQ/Texas set.

Re: SG Standard or Amercan fat strat?

I have an old Highway One strat that is very resonant. So much so, that I may get another and install a humbucker into the bridge slot! Then I will eventually get another SG. My favorite guitars tend to be LP Standards, SGs, PRS CE-22, strats and teles.

Re: SG Standard or Amercan fat strat?

Thanks for the advice! I ended up getting another Highway strat and am opening up the bridge cavity to install a Duncan Custom Trembucker! I am also saving for aother SG, this time a Standard and will get the Rio Grande BBQ/Texas. :)

fat when you add gain. greasy. chewy. = Rio Grande BBQ pickup.

They're both very versatile guitars, tonally speaking. I think the biggest differences will be in feel. The Strat has a longer scale length, first off. And the other major difference is that a Strat feels and sounds like a guitar with a floating vibrato. The Strat also has a maple neck, likely with a more rounded fretboard.
