SH-11/CC for an ash-bodied guitar?

I'm researching pickups to go into the bridge slot of an ash-bodied guitar that will have a maple neck/fingerboard and a Floyd Rose. From a tone and performance standpoint, I do like DLR-era VH as well as a lot of the '80's culprits. I don't usually use a super high-gain sound, though it's fairly distorted most of the time. I don't play chuga-chuga down-tuned stuff, so I'm not looking for overwhelming low end response or thin, shrill highs.

For background, I have an all-mahogany Charvel with a Floyd and maple board that came with a C5. I didn't care for the raspy high-end of the C5 and had an A2Pro put in which I really like. That said, I do wish the A2Pro had just a touch more output at times.

For the ash-body guitar, I can imagine that some might recommend the '78/EVH pu but isn't that pickup more targeted at a guitar with a traditional, non-locking vibrato bridge? From what I've read on this forum, it sounds like the CC does a better job with the Floyd bridge.

i think the 78 can work great in a trem guitar, so would the cc. they sound pretty different. the 78 is more pafish flavor where the cc is more modern sounding with a more buttery tone. the cc usually works great in ash. the smoothness of the pups tone works well with the focus of ash

I should edit my original post. When I said "standard bridge", I meant a traditional, non-locking Fender vibrato bridge.

EVH Frankie, made by Seymour, sold by Fender/EVH -- designed by Ed's ears, for an ash-bodied guitar. The best pickup ever for that sound. I love it as do lots of other people.

Is that pickup basically the SD Custom Shop IM1?

I just found out that a friend of mine ordered a '78 so I'm curious to see what he thinks of it. He's putting it in an ash strat with an old non-fine-tuning Floyd.

As for swapping magnets, I'd like to get the pickup choice right from the start as I'm a lazy kind of guy in some aspects...

No personal 78 experience, but I know a CC is pretty much made for that guitar. Of course, so is the 78....
