SH-11 Custom Custom in Les Paul?

Re: SH-11 Custom Custom in Les Paul?

I had a sh-11 in my epiphone explorer, which I considered a fairly bright guitar. The cc sounded amazing distorted, but the cleans were terrible for my liking. Just had waaaay too much in the mids dept. So I swapped for the UOA5. From my understanding, it doesn't matter which way the UOA5 goes in the pup (this was my first pup swap). Anyway, I still have that super nice distorted tone, but now the mids have calmed down a bit and the pup is just way more balanced this way. My guess is you'll like the UOA5 better, but you can buy a package deal from addictionfx on ebay which includes an a2 and UOA5 for ~$8.

Didn't see anyone mention this so I'll pile on.... The a2 pro and cc didn't sound similar in my fiddle, not even close.

How different are these 2? I played an Epiphone LP with the Slash pickups in it today at GC and it sounded great. Not really dark at all imo

I like the CC and APH1 combo that I had in one of my Les Pauls. The CC sounded like a hotter version of the same pickup, very similar tonal characteristics for me. It was too hot for what I was playing in that project but I might just have to swap it back in for this one.

Again - I was playing Zepplin, WOman-tone Clapton, Allman slide, etc…in said LP, which was a fairly bright Epi. The CC was awesome. And the clean mix with the PG in the neck was amazing for all kinds of cool shading.

Recently put this into a Floyd Super-strat. It RAWKS in there! But in now way even close to the tone in the LP. Which was a totally different kind of awesome…
