Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

This is becasue it was probally all about the Benjamins. I dont know for sure though.

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

I mean we all know he loved his L500's, but yeah the only reason his Deans have L500's is because theyre replicas of guitars that had L500's (CFH, etc). But his new models, the ones he would have been playing if still alive, had Dimebuckers on 'em. Who knows if it was for the money though...

Maybe he really did like the dimebucker through his rigs???? My rig and guitars HATED IT! Of course, he used solid state so, it was a whole nother animal.

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

nope..remember at the end he used Krankenstein amps bro...so he used both with SS (when he used Randall) and tubes....but most rigs dont stand up to the sh-13s SLAUGHTER!!!!

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

Not to mention that Seymour swapped the magnet from A5 to ceramic. Personally the Bill Lawrence walks all over the Dimebucker. "walks" no pun intended. Check out the L-500XL, it's very HiFi, broad sounding and crystal clear. They work well with my Mesa Dual Rectifiers.

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

actually i like the bill more as well, but still many people bash the dime and all it takes is just a listen to any of his records to assure me it's one of the most awesome pups out there...ohh BTW welcome guitarzan...

Thank Bro. All of Dime's Pantera stuff was recorded with the BL's

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

IF a dimebucker made it on a Pantera Record it only would have been Reinventing the Steel, as up to that point he still used the Lawerences. Personally I prefer the dimebucker to the lawrence but I haven't ample enough time with a lawrence to properly try it out.

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

Why dimebag prefer BL than duncan?
It's funny. I heard kids on MySpace "Guitar Geeks" saying the same thing a few weeks ago. I love how the Internet can re-write history. My guess is that young kids see pictures of pre-SH-13 Dime playing guitars with other pickups and they assume that Dime never used the SH-13 because they were too young to remember all the stuff that Dime did with the SH-13.

Teddybear, I've written this numerous times in this forum and elsewhere, but for the record, Dime used the SH-13. And, he preferred it to all the other pickups he used prior to that. How do I know? Because I was the guy who headed up the product development efforts at Seymour Duncan for the SH-13. I was the guy who talked with Dime about what was missing with his other pickups. I was the guy who worked directly with Larry English at Washburn. And I was they guy talking to Dime's tech, Grady, getting him all the various prototypes and keeping them straight.

This is becasue it was probally all about the Benjamins. I dont know for sure though.

The amount of money Dime was getting from us on SH-13 royalty payments was pennies compared to what he was getting from music.

IF a dimebucker made it on a Pantera Record it only would have been Reinventing the Steel,

This is true. Dime was using prototype SH-13s while he was recording Reinventing the Steel. The truth is, I don't know what tracks used what pickups. I don't know if anyone does.

Dimebucker debuted in Jan 2002 "Reinventing" was released in 2000. Damageplan I'll buy, not the Pantera stuff.

See above.

I guess this is just something I'll have to deal with a few times every year. Honestly, I don't know why kids refuse to believe something that is well documented historical fact.

If you want to read about it in Dime's words, click here.

Oh wait, that's not going to work. I can just hear it now.... <in Beavis' voice> "Hey Butthead, how do you know Duncan didn't make up that interview after Dime died and no one could disprove it? I bet there isn't even a Lisa Sharken. What could a chick know about guitars anyway?"
:joke:

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

Thanks Evan! I know its troublesome to have to rehash this. Both from the perspective of the pickup manufacturer and as a friend of Dime..

If I may add one thing. I think something that throws people off is that the Dimebag CFH Dean comes with the Bill Lawrence and I think people construe this as being his preference. Everyone needs to credit Dean for making that great guitar true to Dimes original, AND take notice that all of then new Dime designs have the DIMEBUCKER.. This is true to Dime's design. I believe that due to the high visibility of the CFH Lightening bolt guitar, people tend to dwell on that more.

Just my .02

Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl

ive gotta agree with evan on this one...we suck...hhaha jk but yeah evan of all ppl should know...thanx for the info, even though you explicitly said you have to mention this every once in a while hhaha...and lisa sharken does exist...CAUSE SHE IS GONNA INTERVIEW ME IN A FEW YEARS HAHHAHA!!! im not counting on it, really....wow....bummer..

EDIT:

Why Slash prefer EMG than duncan?

second of all...what does slash and emgs have anything to do with dime and bill lawrence and the dimebucker??

Thats true, I think the CFH dean creates some of this confusion. My FBD ML came with a dimebucker and I couldn't be happier with it in there. Though I saw a pic recently of the FBD ML as it is today and it looks like it has a different duncan in the bridge . . . . a distortion??
