Re: Sh-13 vs bill lawrence L-500xl
Why dimebag prefer BL than duncan?
It's funny. I heard kids on MySpace "Guitar Geeks" saying the same thing a few weeks ago. I love how the Internet can re-write history. My guess is that young kids see pictures of pre-SH-13 Dime playing guitars with other pickups and they assume that Dime never used the SH-13 because they were too young to remember all the stuff that Dime did with the SH-13.
Teddybear, I've written this numerous times in this forum and elsewhere, but for the record, Dime used the SH-13. And, he preferred it to all the other pickups he used prior to that. How do I know? Because I was the guy who headed up the product development efforts at Seymour Duncan for the SH-13. I was the guy who talked with Dime about what was missing with his other pickups. I was the guy who worked directly with Larry English at Washburn. And I was they guy talking to Dime's tech, Grady, getting him all the various prototypes and keeping them straight.
This is becasue it was probally all about the Benjamins. I dont know for sure though.
The amount of money Dime was getting from us on SH-13 royalty payments was pennies compared to what he was getting from music.
IF a dimebucker made it on a Pantera Record it only would have been Reinventing the Steel,
This is true. Dime was using prototype SH-13s while he was recording
Reinventing the Steel. The truth is, I don't know what tracks used what pickups. I don't know if anyone does.
Dimebucker debuted in Jan 2002 "Reinventing" was released in 2000. Damageplan I'll buy, not the Pantera stuff.
See above.
I guess this is just something I'll have to deal with a few times every year. Honestly, I don't know why kids refuse to believe something that is well documented historical fact.

Oh wait, that's not going to work. I can just hear it now.... <in Beavis' voice> "
Hey Butthead, how do you know Duncan didn't make up that interview after Dime died and no one could disprove it? I bet there isn't even a Lisa Sharken. What could a chick know about guitars anyway?"
