Hey guys, newbie here, well actually a returning newbie, was here a while back just wasn't very active. Anywho!!!! I have been reading up on the sh-14 custom 5 and it sounds like it would do what I am looking for. I'm a rhythm guitarist, I have a Schecter Blackjack, mahogany body, set thru neck and string thru bridge and I play thru a Vox ADVT50XL. I play alot of metal and nu-metal and hard/heavy rock! I use mainly a modern metal Recto type tone and want something that will compliment that.

Does anyone use this pup and play the similar style I do and same type sound, what do you like/dislike about the pup. I want something with BALLZ!!:thanks:

Also what about an Alternative 8?

Re: SH-14 Custom 5

Wecome back.

I have C5's in several guitars (LP, SG, & 335) and like it a lot. I use 250K pots with it to take off the excess treble & bring out the mids, although most guys just use the standard 500K's. I play classic rock & Chicago blues, and it's nice for chords & solos, clean or with overdrive.

It's the same PU as the Custom (ceramic) & Custom Custom (A2), just different magnets. It works well with A8's and A4's for some players. It's a versatile PU that makes a good foundation for mods.

+1 i've heard it do outstanding metal, and hard rock, and its my go to pickup for all moderate to heavy old stuff, ie aerosmith, zepp, ac/dc, etc. its great for opening up a tight compressed guitar i've found. i've got it in my acryllic LP (which im selling: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=152922 ) and i love it!!

oh maybe i should state that im selling the guitar - NOT the pickup!!
