SH-15 Alt 8 Clip

Only my second shot at recording a clip so dont expect miracles. I just wanted to show how it does cleans and OD. This time I mic'd my amp rather than using my GNX. Same general tune I always play when I testing things out.

It sounds rahther vintagey on Cleans
But more raw and powerfull on OD tones.
It's a cool sound!

it sounds like a slightly overdriven clean, like clinging desperately to "must, stay, clean", yet it's in its element when it's Wide Open Throttle. I like how even everything is, with everything in abundance without sounding muddy or chimey. I'm surprised that this is a mainstream pickup and not something only available from the custom shop.

Yeah ,it wasnt set as clean as the amp can get. I usually run it about half way up.

I like the OD tone Garrett....has a nice growl going on.

The clean was good, but I think the pickup really shines when driven.

Definitely right Joe. Its great for OD but can do cleans a lot better than I would have expected.

just listened to your clip, nice eq to get that tone, the A8 sounds killer on your amp!
i cant get cleans well with my setup, its geared towards power chords. my amps are the cause of this NOT the A8. its a brilliant pickup for anything.

I just threw one of these in my 79 mockingbird and it's pretty sweet. I was expecting a little more from it though, but definitely not disappointed.

Thats the Alt 8 alright. Tasty :headbang: This pickup really shines with some grit, be it a high gain amp or a clean amp with some pedals.

I got an Alt8 a couple of months ago after reading some reviews here. I think it's my new favorite pickup.

The whole 'Must... stay... clean' is exactly how the A8 performs clean. It may seem as a kind of compression, but it doesn't 'feel' that way. That pickup is a paradox in itself. Thick as hell too. Brilliant addition to the Duncan line. Thanks for the clips kj! I wish I had some recording gear
