SH-4 or Other...

Does anyone have any experience with the SH-4/JB getting muddy in the lows when you get down to Drop A or so?

Using a baritone, I love the tone of the JB in the low low's, im wondering if anyone else would choose the JB over a Black Winter or a Nazgul that seems to be actually designed for this. I feel the JB just sounds bettter, thoughts?

Re: SH-4 or Other...

For my playing style, I don't like the JB any lower than C. Even at C, it is not as tight as I would like it to be. I much prefer the Black Winter, Distortion, or Full Shred for C and lower.

It's not that the tone isn't good, so for some styles I'm sure it's perfect. It's just not tight enough, especially as far down as A.

I'm not a fan of the JB below about D standard. Too loose for my tastes. I would rather a Duncan Pegasus or a BKP Blackhawk or something along those lines for alnico.

Considering the goal of the JB when it was made, it should not be a surprise. The BKP Juggernaught might also be an option to consider.

Depends on what music you play really. I can see it being too loose going that low.

But hey Joe from Gojira uses a JB and he sounds very tight. Although they use 5150 iii's and 6505's in the past.

Check out Coal Chamber. It works for Miguel Rascón. I'd suggest Alt8, Black Winter, Dimebucker, Distortion or Full Shred though.
