Re: SH-5 + Line 6 Spider 15 settings suggestions for metal?
i had find the best way to go with any amp to dial your tone is with help from a equalizer pedal, graphic or parametric, better if it has a boost a part from the eq, so you can use it like a tube screamer but better since you can adjust the frequencies at preference.
anyway insane or other setting doesn't matter, set the gain at half, the EQ flat, your guitar volume and tone knobs at 10, and start to work the EQ until you had the kind of attack you want, a good idea when you don't have a boost, eq or overdrive pedal, is to set the EQ quite the oposite to the pickup EQ, if the custom emphatises lows and mids, empahtise the highs a notch, try something like B6/11 M5/11 T8/11, get your volume to a nice level, then start to mess with both gain level and channel, then do you a favour and buy an EQ or Tubescreamer pedal, they will serve you to lower your amp gain, tighten the lows, boosting the mids letting you scoop them a notch so it doesn't sound nasally, and had a heavier, clearer tone wich you can crank and sound nice
