SH-6 Pairing Question

Hey there.

I've been playing guitar for just over two years now. I play in a band who originally played a mellow, chord strumming kind of rock but now we play a hard, heavy and dark, riff based rock. The humbuckers that originally came with my guitar (a Hamer XT Vector, Flying V shape) were fine to begin with but they just don't have the bite, power or clarity that I now need.

I'm keen to get a SH-6 for the bridge but I'm unsure as to what to pair it with in the neck. I play most of my lead lines in the middle pickup position and so it is important that I get a balanced output out of both my neck and bridge pickups because I like to mix them so often. I've read the recomendation about installing an SH-2n Jazz Model in the neck to give a versatile range of tones but I think that this would unbalance the way I play as the bridge pickup would greatly out power the neck. Is this the case?

Is it best to just pair it with a SH-6 neck pickup to get an equal output? Or is there a combination of an SH-6 and another pickup that someone could recomend?

Cheers and sorry for the lengthy post.

Re: SH-6 Pairing Question

I have the SH6N and SH6B instaled in one of my guitars, the SH6N is an over looked neck pup IMO, its not just a metal voiced pup. Good clean sound, great for lead, never harsh or hard sounding and it sounds great split!
