SH-6N with a A5 or A2 in the bridge?

Re: SH-6N with a A5 or A2 in the bridge?

I can't get magnets but it would be nice if SH-6N+AlNiCo 5= SH-4n because SH-6B+AlNiCo 5= SH-4

Re: SH-6N with a A5 or A2 in the bridge?

Negative ghost rider... the SH6N is not a neck version of the SH6B. The SH6 started life as the SH7 Seymourizer. It is a completely different pickup but the combination of it with the SH6 became popular enough that along the way the SH7's name was changed to SH6N.

As far as the mag swap goes... Why? If your going to run a SH6N in the bridge why not just use the fat ceramic? Why neuter it with a A2? Plenty of A2 pickups to choose from

I'm curious about SH6n with A8 in the bridge. Has anyone tried it?

Because i dont like it with the fat ceramic and wondered if a mag swap would help it or not

Help... i dont know depends on your expectations. You dont like the fat ceramic ok... but what do you want to change and what are you hoping to achieve.

A2's give full mids, less treble, lots of texture, a looser low end, and less output. For a hot bridge PU that's too bright and thin, that could be appealing. UOA5 would be another candidate. I've pulled the ceramics (regular and thick) from all of my PU's and given them away to forum members.
