SH1 '59 Model logo?

Hello, this is my first post :p

I've just installed new pickups on my LAG guitar, one SH6 Duncan Disto and one SH1 '59 Vintage

I don't understand why the Seymour Duncan logo is not printed on the SH1 :27: In fact, that's not very important 'coz I installed covers on the two humbuckers, but I just want to know "why".

thanks.

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

Its designed to be a "vintage" replacement. Vintage pickups don't say Seymour Duncan on them. You can, however, order it with it on.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Cool you have a Lag too, what's yours?
I have a Lag The Beast Custom, and i'll put a '59 too, on the bridge position.
I don't know why they don't come with a logo maybe to keep a more vintage appearance..

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

now my pickups are installed on the guitar... too late to change, too painful LOL

no, it's ok, I think I can survive without the Seymour Duncan logo. :laugh2:

My lag is a RX200. I've replaced the picups, SH1 '59 in neck and SH6 DD in bridge position. This is a very versatile couple of pickups. I especially love the Vintage... A really warm sound ! I've replaced my buttons with gibson speed knobs and the truss rod cover is in aluminium copyphot. Here a little picture:

but on this picture the creme covers are not installed on the pickups.

Thanks for the answers.

A roxane :)
I played a lot in one. Lovely guitars.
Extremely versatile sweet sounding guitar.
Good old Lags were great guitars.
Mine I never felt the need to change anything.
I don't think they exist in the US, even in europe they're not that easy to find...

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

in fact the mine is a chinese model, "low-cost" around 600$US.

the real Roxanne I want to have is the RXS1000, but this model is out of production :yell: It's a 2003 model I think

I really love it :laugh2: it costs 1000 € ( 1150$ ).

But I am really satisfied by my chinese model, it's a very good guitar for the price.

Another question: On the picture of my lag (upper post), you can see the orientation of my pickups. They aren't opposite, however I putted the neck pickup with the "Seymour Duncan" inscription (on the back of P/U) in the same orientation than the bridge....
On all the pictures I ever seen on the web, pickups are always opposite. Is this really important or just a "design" touch?
I'm really satisfied by the position of mine.... I have no troubles

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

Oh yes you're right.
Mine is actually one of the last i saw from the old factory in france.
I bought mine when they were ending the french ones so i got a big discount from the store, glad i did.
A friend os mine as an old Roxanne goldtop, it kicks ass, but I hate the color, never liked goldtops.
In a shop were i usually go they have a few old Lags (4 or 5 i think) including a Roxanne very similar to the on in that picture.
Ãbout your question, I never done that, and i don't think it'll matter.
In theory it should change the sound, but I doubt that anyone could hear the difference (except maybe your dog).
You can always ajust the pole pieces if you don't like the sound.
But one rule i found about music is there are no rules, if it sounds good, and if you like your tone then keep them that way.
By the way the guitar is looking great, congrats

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

I like the sound :p ! The splitted sound of the SH1 '59 is really nice!

I have no dog, perhaps my sister will hear the difference? :laugh2:

For LAG, all the "french" models are over 1000 €. A new LAG under this price is not built in Bedarieux, I think... I live in Belgium, it's easy to buy a LAG here ! But in US...

When my money will be better, I'll buy a french Roxanne.

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

Great i'm thinking about splitting my '59 but I was afraid it would sound to weak.
:laugh2: Who needs a dog when you have a sister
I bought my Lag for about 800€ they were forced to reduce the prices by the importer, great news for me
Here you can get a LAG Roxanne for about 800€/900€ quite a nice price.
It's unbelivable the way the french LAGs were made! They had no more than dozen guys working on the guitars, explains why they have the luthier look and feel.

Re: SH1 '59 Model logo?

yes I've seen a video on LAG's factory, they construct a thousand guitars by year...

But I think my next guitar will be a custom-made by a professionnal guitar maker... That cost about 2000 €.

But this is the only way to get the guitar of my dreams
