SH14 Custom 5 questions

Re: SH14 Custom 5 questions

The Duncan Distortion and Invader necks are ceramic. 59n ceramic doesn't actually sound all that bad either.

Re: SH14 Custom 5 questions

DD and Invader sounds too much, but a 59 ceramic? Now that sounds like something I can dig. Thanks

Re: SH14 Custom 5 questions

but nut, I got a Strat I put a CC in to replace the Pearly Gates Plus. It sounded good, warm, very middy, too middy for me. So I had the A5 magnet in the PG+, stuck it in there and BAM, an awesome sounding Hi Fi tone. It really sounded great. Then at reahearsal I noticed I couldn't hear myself. I turned up, it got louder but I still had trouble picking myself out. So after reading the forum here I figured I'd try a ceramic magnet, cause I had one laying around. It really helped my guitar to cut thru. It sounds more pushed/compressed not as "HI/Fi but it retains the nice highs and lows of the C5 without sounding too harsh. I can hear my wahwah again. Anyway, definately worth the switch for me. Sounds like your experiencing something similar.
I guess Ill have to try an A8 next since everyone seems to love the Custom 8. The ceramic custom sounds the best to me of the 3 "custom" variations I tried in my strat.

Thanks and welcome aboard. I have a Custom ceramic on the way. Gonna A/B it with the C5 and see if it floats my mahogany boat.

Re: SH14 Custom 5 questions

The Custom sounds good...I still like the 59 bridge in my LP, but I do dig the clarity, punch and crunch the Custom offers. It's at least a tone I can use. NOW, the AP ProII neck sounds weak and lifeless. I'm gonna try the magnet swap on this one, think I should go ceramic or try something else... I still want that 'neck' tone, but it needs to have more punch, clarity to it....thoughts? Thanks
