i'm currently using a rhoads flyin v copy with shn2 and sh15. body is ash, neck is ash with ebony board. string through body.

i'm planning to get another set of sh2n and sh15 to be used with my epi lp standard. body is mahogany with maple top, neck is mahogany with rosewood board.

question is, will there be a big amount of difference in tone? will it sound almost the same? i use the same pots and caps for the two guitars.

Well, maybe. Two very different guitars. That's not to say the combo won't sound good. SH-15, that's the Alt8, right?

OK, love the Alt8. In a V, with a JazzN? Oh yeah!

The Alt8 is solid. Period. Combine it with a JazzN in the neck spot, you've got it all. Very nice middle position.

The Epi LP should have a darker, more mid heavy tone as compared to your V. Ash is a generally bright and snappy sounding wood, and the V has less mass than the Epi. The pickups will obviously be the same, but I wouldn't expect both guitars to sound the same. I would expect them to sound more different than similar. Even 2 identical looking LP's can have quite different tones. Each piece of wood is different, the way the neck and body woods marry together is different.... lots of factors.
