i am looking for a hot pickup with a lot of harmonic content & bright on the top end. out of the SH6 & SH15 which would be, 1 hotter , 2 brighter,& 3 the greatest harmonic screamer out of these two ? if any one has used them i would really like your comments .

Re: SH6 v SH15

What amp, pedals, and guitar are you using ? Do you play alone/ with a band, solos / rhythms /both ?
Give an example of a player who has the kind of tone you're looking for. (album, band, or guitarist, if it's even a tad obscure one, give us a YouTube sample).

Re: SH6 v SH15

The SH-6 is more compressed and brighter/sharper on the top end. The SH-15 is more open sounding with a rounded, blusier top end.

Both have big, tight low end with lots of mids and low mids. They both have about the same output.

Both offer big pinch harmonics, although different in character. The SH-15's harmonics are very interesting. They are not as sharp as the SH-6's but they really stand out in the mix. It seems like they cover a larger frequency range? Ones on the low strings are particularly killer.

If you were doing strictly downtuned metal with a darker gibson style guitar then the SH-6 would be the way to go. Its definitely the brighter of the two. If you want more versatility and play on a strat, PRS or Ibanez style guitar then go with the SH-15. It has that warm alnico character, better cleans and handles open/barr chords a lot better.

Re: SH6 v SH15

from what you have all said, thank you i am thinking SH6. i do like a tight & sharp top end gritty even & do love my strat but this guitar is a maton (an OZY Gibson rip off) i have a SH1 in the neck & love it & as nice as the JB is in the bridge it,s not the sound i want . I am looking for that head cutting metal sound with screaming harmonics every where, but that is my madness . again thanks.

not to change the subject, ive never played a JB but all the reviews say the harmonics jump out everywhere with ease, does it not do that for you with the JB?
i wonder if the Sh-6 would have more or less harmonics than a JB.
probably more with its higher output.

Re: SH6 v SH15

yes the JB is nice but middle of the road , smooth & a little rounded & that is very nice if you want that vintage like sound but i am looking for all out hot balls on fire top end !! & hotter if i can get it.

IMO, the JB's harmonics are OK. I think the SH-6 does better in that department. I am telling ya, go for a Full Shred.
