Shadow kill pot wiring.

I have been working on a diagram to include a kill pot i have. I was hoping you guys could double check it for me?

well, it seems the kill pot is normally open, so at least the kill pot part is okay, if it was me, for ease of working, instead of wiring it the way you had it in the diagram (soldering wires from the lugs of the pot to the switch part) i would put a pair of wires from the switch on the pot to the jack (i find easier to work with the lugs of the jack than to the lugs of the pot)

your diagram is fine, nice, cool as hell
but for sake of space and ease of soldering (at least for me and my dumb fingers) it would be better to conect the killswitch part of the pot to the jack than conecting it to the lugs in the pot, 'cause well, it will be like doing a "normal" "standar" wiring, just adding 2 long wires from the switching lugs to the jack

better?..... or worse???......

your diagram is fine, nice, cool as hell

I'd go with the diagram that you already have. The only "extra" cable runs are those between the terminals of the kill pot itself. I have one installed in an active bass guitar. It is handy for Doug Wimbish type stunts but little else.

just before the handy guys wich know all about electronics (no sarcasm) starts to say i know nothing or just ranting, i will explain why what i suggested to kramersteen (his last diagram) is "better" than his first diagram even if electrically they are the same thing just with more wire, is just about the working space and the skill to work in a space that small, if your fingers are quite dumb or you don't like to wire things in the space of an ant farm tunel, then the longer wires will seem "easier" and "better"

It must be true then.

On the modified active bass guitar referred to above, the sequence in which the signals run is: pickups > balance > EQ > Volume > Kill switch > jack socket. The cable runs from the volume pot to the output jack are exactly as they would be if the instrument had a regular volume pot and no kill switch. The kill switch section is just an interrupt to the signal flow.

On a slight aside, the 9v cabling all connects together at the EMG ABC balance PCB. (All soldered. No Quik Connect blocks or pins.)

I'd go with the original wiring, but move the shadow hot wire from the outside lug to the middle one. Does the same as grounding at the jack, and grounds it out before it goes through the pot.
