Hi just got a Ibanez psm10 micro Paul Stanley model
its a short scale 22" poplar body.it sounds very bassy guessing its the scale on neck.what humbucker would give it more life brighten it up ?

Dimebucker if you want high output. Or DiMarzio Super 2.

For the neck, consider a Jazz, Full Shred Neck, or DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell.

Scale doesn't change the EQ like that IME. The construction, glue/finish, and electronics might do that. I'd disconnect the tone first. If that doesn't do much, I'd check what value the pots are and first replace those. Next you could swap pickups, but it would be better if you could try one of the pickups in another guitar first. Because if the pickup sounds good and it's the guitar making them sound bassy, then any replacement will have the same problem.

I had a Paul Gilbert Mikro for a couple years. The stock pickups were too hot, so I went with some Lace Sensors and liked those better.

Isn't string gauge important on shorter scale guitars? Or am I thinking of something else?

Affects feel and intonation a lot. 9-10s on short scale at standard tuning is loose and flabby, sounds out of tune on chords. Usually you need heavier strings on shorter scale, but it also depends on what pitch you are tuning to.
