Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

Ok

I might be buying another guitar but i dunno if i should get another epip sg (G310), and epip lp or a fender sanderd strat or tele

This is the sg(2 paint jobs but if get the plain i will go with red)

First off, are you looking for a humbucker guitar or one with single coils?

Considering that you already have a G310 I would say to go with the LP. Not saying anything bad about the G310 or SGs in general. If the LP doesn't do it for you and you are looking the Epi route, consider a G400.

If you are looking for singles coils both of the fenders are good. Try both and see what suits you best.

I know ya Said you don't wanna get another amp. But, if that little marshall 30watt ss is your ONLY amp, then I'de highly recomend getting a better amp. I know ya might like your amp and thats kool, But Consider the following. A Cheap cheesy guitar played through a GOOD amp is gonna sound a whole lot better than a Great guitar through a ****ty amp.
Buy a new amp, and you Might discover You don't NEED (or even want) a new guitar.

I agree. Think about a decent amp, THEN if what you're hearing isn't what you're looking for, go with another guitar.

Thing is, (Brett Mason said this years ago) your tone isn't in your equipment, it's in your head and your hands. Your touch has way more to do with how you sound than your guitar or amp.

first off, the sg you're looking at is actually worse than the one you have so that's out of the picture. i have an affinity strat if that helps anything. plays great, and sounds......not great but good.


i would go with the les paul or the strat depending on what you want. make sure you play before you buy as a strat and a LP are two very different guitars and if you make the wrong choice chances are you'll be regretting it

An amp will have a much greater effect dude..take yer fiddle to the shops and play some amps.

Do you feel comfortable with your current guitar?

i no the sg i was lookin at was worse but it very different.i don't want a new amp cos i i'm gunna be getting a line 6 stck soon.my sg at the moment to is a bit heavy and thick and not very comfterble to stand with. i like the looks of teles but i donn't no whats gunna happen but there is a 45% chance i will get a tele.lp are heavyer but sound nice in some ways

Look for a better amp in your price range before looking to another guitar.

Remember this equation:

Crappy Guitar + Crappy Amp = Crappy Tone
Crappy Guitar + Good Amp = Good Tone
Good Guitar + Good Amp = Great Tone

This is very simplified, but holds a lot of truth.

Run from the G310. The other guitars you posted are all superior instruments to it. With Epi SGs stick to the G400. IME these are an electronics upgrade away from being really good players. I prefer them over Gibson Faded series SGs. I've never played an Epiphone Black Beauty.

The MIM Standard Fenders are good guitars for the money. This all depends on what you're looking for in a guitar, both in terms of feel and tone. Ultimately we can only tell you our experiences, it's up to you to play a bunch of guitars and find the one that speaks to you.

ok thanks u pepole i probs won't be able to get a music shop until maybe thw weekend, But what are the squire affintys like cos the tele look quite pleasing.

The G310 will be a huge step BACKWARDS from your G400 man. I'd add some variety to your rig and get a Telecaster...Squier Affinities aren't too bad if you're chill with it bein a 'budget' guitar...but a Mexican Fender's gonna be a little bit better for yer buck.

Yeah that'd be cool...a 'cheap' SG, a 'cheap' Tele and a 'cheap' Marshall...then you could work on getting the 'nice' version of each of those later on, heh.

i agree man

you can either have a lot of mediocre gear you're never satisfied with

or a few pieces of really good gear that sound amazing

I'd take one american tele over 2 mexican teles anyday

i'm am going to try and go to a guitar shop and try all their tele's and strats and epip lp's. but at the moment i love the teles
