There are still lots of shows without PA support for the guitars. Nearly every show I've played has been like that. 100W half stack is still a great format for that situation.

Honestly, yes. I got called out last time I posted wanting to upgrade my 20W poweramp because it wasn't enough. But 100W amps still exist for a reason.
I have an Orange Micro Dark, and I realized by playing a show recently while on semi-high gain and full volume that I need something that can push more air. So I'm wondering whether I should buy something with higher wattage, or if having a bigger cab will be enough to make up for it. If I do need a higher wattage I will likely crash out on a Marshall Valvestate 8100.
For what a Valestate will run you can find a used PRS MT 15. The MT 15 first is not a 15 watt amp it's much closer to 30. They also run a pair of 6L5 or 5881 big bottle tubes and will spank a lot of 50 watt amps badly. Crusing gain channel plus a really nice clean. Will be another world at volume from you micro dark. Used, you can find an MT 15 for $400 to 500. I owned one for a few years and they are killers. I own a US first Gen PRS Archon and a US built Custom 50 and the MT 15 was redundant but would not hesitate to buy another one and gig with it if I needed to.
If you like the Micro Dark but want more power, look at an Orange TH30. The "Dirty" channel is basically a Dark Terror, the "Clean" channel is basically the same as the Rockerverb. 30w at full power but can do half power or 2 tubes for more power amp distortion. Under-rated yet awesome
