So I've found a deal on this burny firebird copy which has three pickups, but the seller lives in a different city so I can't test it directly. The seller is giving this away dirt cheap, for a mere 175$ (I live in asia so refurbished japanese guitars are pretty cheap), too bad I'm not too used to japanese guitars so I can't tell if this guitar is good or not, can any of you guys give me some information? like when it's made according to the serial numbers, or some info on burny guitars in general would be awesome too:D here are the pics:

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Burny was made by Fernades guitars. If so, this should be a decent guitar for the price. Are you in a position to plug it in and play it? That would be my main thing--how is the intonation/action, does it sound good...I have an Epiphone Masterbilt (correct spelling) Advanced Jumbo that sounded better than the Gibson Advanced Jumbo Pro, IMO (the Gibson had too much sustain--beautiful sounding guitar just seemed a little over the top compared to the Epiphone Masterbilt.) Most guitars can be adjusted to play well--unless the wood is too badly warped or faulty manufacturing (neck not accurately scaled.) Depending on how much money you wanna throw into a guitar--you can always upgrade the pickups, pots, bridge, tuning pegs, etc.

Re: should I buy this burny firebird copy?

it would be perfect if I could try it hands-on but sadly the seller lives almost a thousand miles away...
I'm waiting for the seller to reply to me on the bridge pickup and the fretboard, i'm probably gonna buy it in a day or two from now but I just want to know more about the guitar:D

Ahh, I see. Well, I'm pretty sure Burny was/is made by Fernandes. Fernandes made some great shredders similar to the Charvels/Jacksons of the 80's. I've seen some Charvels and Jacksons go for around the same price, depending on how desperate the seller is. Only concern I would have is any damage--I hope the sale works out for you and hope it is an outstanding guitar for you!

$175 I would buy it. I mean you really dont have much to loose. If you dont like it as is it would be a good platform from modding.

You could try and flip if you dont like it.

If you are looking for more Burny info just google it. Check e-bay maybe you find what they are selling for.

If you dont want if I may be interested in it.

after looking around everywhere with no results, I randomly searched on youtube and somehow found this:

sounds and looks good enough to me, guess I'm replacing my ec256 with this one after all:D

You must have not looked to hard. I spent less that 30 seconds on google with burny firebird copy as my search words. There is plenty of information. You may get your best info from the Tokai forum

Also the body may be made from basswood. Looks to have an abr-1 type bridge.

Like I said if you dont want it. Can send me the info on where its is? Because for that price I think its a good deal.

Might not be made in Japan. The Burny name has been used for made in China for a quite a while now. Of course neither marking country of origin nor date of manufacture :)

The ABR-1 is a sign of a better guitar.

I'd say the main issue is whether the middle pickup gets in the way of your playing.
