Should I do a Whipple Inductor Mod on my Cry Baby?

I have a GCB-95 Cry Baby Wah. I found Whipple inductors on The Bay for 25 bucks. Should I do this Mod , and why or why not?
P.S. Just replaced the ICAR taper Pot with new reissue one on my old late 70's Cry Baby and before it was making bad noises, now it works great!

I have used the Whipple inductor more than a few times and it's a nice inductor...The inductor alone isn't going to be the end all tonally though..Try it and tell us if "you" like the change?

which pot did you use? how is the range? dose it have a smooth range throughout the pedal motion or is the sweep centered mostly in one spot?

I liked the Whipple in my VOX and preferred it to stock but it still isn't perfect even with new pots and resistor mods. You can improve the tone a little bit with this stuff but its hard to make it sound like a whole new wah.

If you change to different transistors and know where to set the gain on T1,you surely can change not only the overall voicing, but the overall gain of the wah also...I use adjustable gain pots in my wahs instead of the gain set resistors...A wah is a filter and you're changing the way the filter responds..

I pull those MPSA18s out of the Dunlop stuff....

I guess what needs to be said in this thread is that changing the inductor in a GCB 95 will not make it sound like a Vox wah.

It's just going to sound like a GCB95 with a Whipple inductor.

There are FAR more other things that would need to be changed to make a GCB95 sound like a Vox and to be honest I wouldn't even waste your time...you'd be better off just putting a whole new board in the shell because it's all wrong for a Vox wah sound.
