Should I exchange this for trembucker spacing(pic included)?

I just got a new bridge pickup yesterday for my LTD MH-100QMNT and got the humbucker spacing. I installed it and notice that my high E is over the very outside edge of the pole and B isn't too much better. Also in comparing it to the the stock pickup, the spacing is a hair narrower, the stock lined up much better(you can see in the pic how the neck pickup lines up much better).

So my question is, should I exchange this for the trembucker version(I'm thinking yes but just wanted another opinion)? The pickup is an SH-5 Custom BTW.

Even if it sounds identical, I'm the type of person that would much rather have them all be nice and centered if possible.

I think I would so everything lines up.

According to the info on website they say over 50mm string to string go for trembucker. my s series is about 53 so I'm putting a trembucker in.

there you go.:)

I would but some people say it doesn't make a difference. I'd do it so everything lines up.

I've had volume drops on the high E string when it's way off.

Me too. I'm a fan of the Trembucker. I can hear and feel a difference when the high E string isn't centered over the polepiece. What I can hear is the high E sound weak and then get louder when I bend a note on the high E and pull the string over the pole piece. No explanation for why that doesn't bother those who say they don't hear a difference. Bugs me though! So I've always used a Trembucker on my Strats that have had a bridge humbucker.

Thanks. A TB-5 has now been ordered. That way I can compare them side by side and return one. I have to say though from the short time I've played it that even though I made the wrong choice in getting hum vs trem, I definitely made the right decision on what pickup to buy. It's sounding awesome and I'm loving the harmonics.

I would be more concerned about it not being centered. What's up with that?

Unless the high E string is noticeably more quiet I wouldn't bother.

I noticed that too. Don't know if it's the angle of the camera or if the bridge pickup and its mounting ring really isn't mounted in line with the bridge. Looks odd in the photo.

I wouldn't want to find that out after I'd already installed the new pickup. That's why I always use a Trembucker on a Fender guitar.

But it is a hassle. Sometimes the pickup cutout in a pickguard is super tight with a Trembucker if the cut out is for a standard size humbucker. More often than just "sometimes".

in all actuality, it'll work fine.

but... we are guitar players and we tend to be anal rentintive or we wouldn't be on this forum. so, yes, the f-spacing looks like it would align better. would you hear the difference if you recorded them both and listened to a blind test? probably not. but once you swap it out and know that the poles are aligned better, you'll feel better about it and that means you play better. well.... at least, that's what I keep telling myself about all the g-spaced I've swapped out for the f-spaced. lol!

It's just a combination of camera angle and lighting.

I know I'm the type of person who couldn't stop thinking about it not being as close to perfect as can be. Even if there wasn't even a measurable difference in output. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if there was a placebo difference. So if I can easily exchange it and swap it out, why not have it look better.

I'm fussy like that too! It's why I use Oil in Foil tone caps or Sprague Orange Drop caps in my guitars even though I've done tests and could hear no difference between cheap and expensive tone caps in a guitar...and neither could anyone else. And why I automatically go with a Trembucker when I'm putting a bridge hummer in a Fender.

This is crazy! I was just logging on for this very issue and this happened to be at the top of the page!
I have an LTD Viper and I am ordering new pickups for it, so I measured.
It's just about 51mm for the bridge and 47ish for the neck.
I'll be ordering a trembucker for the bridge and a humbucker for the neck.
Whether it makes a sonic difference or not is debatable, I want it to look cool.

Good call. Wish I did that in the first place.

Is your LTD a fixed bridge or a Floyd? If it's fixed, being another LTD, I'd imagine it's the same bridge as mine.

Same here. Either do it right or don´t do it at all ;)
