Should I sell my Fender Twin and save for a Vox AC-30?

I love the reverb on my Twin, but sometimes I just feel like I need a new sound. But I have heard so many horror stories about the reliability on the AC-30's. I used to take my Twin everywhere for gigs and it would move around in my trunk and still work great! It is almost 10 years old too (from what the previous owner said).

I like Twins and AC-30's, but can't bind my sound to either of those amps. If you're a gigging musician, you may want to research some modern amps that have the ability to give you
2 or 3 great tones, which will cover what the Twin, Vox, or Marshall will give you. I'm a big fan of dual channel boutique amps, since I don't get tired of the variety of sounds I can get.
Maybe it's time to look into some amps that cover more bases.

I would say save up for the AC-30, But don't sell the Twin untill
your 100% sure the Vox is for you. I never played thru a AC-30
so I don't what it's all about. Over half of the Gigs I've played in my life, I used my trusty Twin. I consider it the Swiss army knife
of amps,It's LOUD enuff, Great cleans,Luscious Reverb and you
can use any OD/DIST. unit to get you Chrunch,Grind or full blowned metal. It is a bit heavy a 77Lbs. But you'll miss it
when it's gone. (trust me:D )

Go play some AC-30s, preferably with your guitar. If you feel its really what you want, i would get it, however, my philosiphy (sp??) is not to let gear go... i can amost garauntee you that if you let go of the twin, even though you may love the Vox, you'll end up missing it. Try and have both, if thats possible.....

KGM,
Why do you say "Keep the Twin?"
Reliability, I would presume.

Kinda what I meant. I mean, if reliability is an issue, you'll always have the Twin if you keep it and save up. You could even run both and a/b/y then for a combination of tones.

depending on your budget..

I'd check out the Bogner Metropolis. I got one, and love it! Very versatile with the schizo switch, much more so than an AC30. Also, Bogner quality is miles ahead of Vox.

Also of interest:

Matchless Lightning

Keep the Twin I say. However, maybe if you wanted an amp that can do good AC-30 sounds, with reliability and more thrown in, what about a Matchless?

Maybe a 2nd hand one
