Show Off Your STRATOCASTER !!!

The "thinking of building a warmoth" thread got me thinking about my Warmoth project and strats in general. Here are the two strats I currently own:

Translucent White Nitro with Callaham Vintage Hardware. The first couple pics are of the body raw....I've not seen a strat body since that had such a unique grain pattern....wood is swamp ash. I was going with a rosewood neck until I actually got the body, then maple seemed the only option possible.

Re: Show Off Your Strat......

My second Strat started life as a jet black Yamaha double fat from the early 80's with a huge trem system...which actually gives the guitar a ton of sustain. I spent 30 days stripping the poly and black paint carefully to reveal the suprisingly nice wood underneath.

Used an off the shelf stain color and applied 6-7 coats of hand sanded and rubbed laccer/poly. Pups are CC/APH. Started out zebra, progressed to double cream. Those will never leave the strat.

Lets see what you all have. The great thing about strats is there is so much you can do with them.

Re: Show Off Your STRATOCASTER !!!

Nice stuff.I would love to have a guitar body with that grain ,the one in the first pic, that would look awsome with a cherry stain.

Re: Show Off Your STRATOCASTER !!!

First one's a '76 ash body with a mid 90's Am Dlx neck, Schaller tuners, graphtech saddles, an OLD Dimarzio trem system, and the EMG DG-20 set up.

Second one down is a '91 MIJ Fender '62 RI. Bone stock save for a .047mfd Orange Drop, three CTS 250k pots, the EJ tone control set up, and the pickups out of a EB Albert Lee model, which are made by Duncan. Think of them as an underwound APS2/APS2/Twangbaner set with small poles.

The third one is my Carvin DC127-T. VS100 set to float, .022mfd Orange Drop, and a PaTB-1n/PATB-3 set up that just smokes in a maple neck thru axe.

Last is my Mercury II. VS set to float, Schallers, and a SA/SA/85 linked to a PA boost set to +20db. It hits any and all amps HARD.

That humbucker has to go though, I need a DD or something.

PS- as you might be able to tell, the pole pieces don't allign. Does it matter? **** no.

Re: Show Off Your STRATOCASTER !!!

Here's the ever-evolving Partscaster. Started in about 1990. Stewmac body, saga neck, currently sporting Fender tuners, an Allparts bridge, and a Fender vintage 60's PU assembly and pickguard.

2004 50th Anniversary American Strat, bought for me by my wife when we got married. To be honest, it took me a while to bond with this one, but now I'm in love with it.

Re: Show Off Your STRATOCASTER !!!

Benjy,

Is that a David Gilmour red strat you got going on there?

I'm trying to score a DG-20 off Ebay but haven't had any luck.

Yup, pretty much. The DG-20 sets are pretty hard to find used. You can make your own though. Get yourself 3 SA's, a volume pot, a SPC control, and an EXG control. Those pasrts come up individually on the bay much more often than the whole assembly.
