Show off your wine red guitars.

Re: Show off your wine red guitars.

^^^ 80's model? I bet it's a good one. It looks great man.

Yep, an '87 .... Plays excellent, sounds good, great ebony for the board. It's a keeper.

This pic. This shade. So hard to get the real color of these things. I like a darker/more purple shade of wine red. Not the red-red ones.

I hate and envy you all.

Nice guitar. Brings up a question. When did Gibson go back to a two-piece top?

Early-Mid 90's I think. I know for the '87-'89 run of the LPCL's they all had three piece tops that were a smidge fugly, especially on the bursts.

I don't have a problem with 3-piece tops per se. No ideal, but not vomitous. My '83 Custom has one, and I like it fine.

So does my 73 and it's my desert island geet. I realize it may not apply as it's black, but just sayin...

Re: Show off your wine red guitars.

My beef is more that the joins were not symmetrical. On the bass side it's roughly a half inch away from the bridge posts, and on the treble side it's right next to them.

Still, barely noticeable most of the time and it sounds good.

Though mine is a black Custom, you can still see the wood joints, and I have noticed that. Has a three-piece maple neck too, which I actually think is a good thing in general with a tilt-back head. I don't see any wood joints on the body, so it might be one piece, or maybe two (but pretty sure it is not pancaked).
