Great fun sitting down, but until I get a longer strap I can't play it standing up, it just sits too high and hurts my left wrist.

Re: Show us your SGs!

Don't worry man, my main guitar is an Epi SG too. They kick major ass at the prices they are. :bigthumb:

What pickups are in it?[/QOTE]

Yeah it's cool for sure. It has a C5 in the bridge and a '57 classic with a A4 in the neck. I have to say it plays and sounds fantastic, very powerful and it makes it presence heard. I really don't mind that it's an Epi at all.... I just hate the size and shape of the headstock! :smack

My ebony 09 standard. I still maintain the fact that I am not a Gibson guy, but man is she ever growing on me. She is the 1 out of 1000 that really stands out. Balanced and body neck to boot.

She's my backup guitar actually, but I think I have a few shots of me on stage playing the SG. I'll try and find them and put them up, since everyone knows that SGs are not meant to be at home, but in the spotlight.

Re: Show us your SGs!

here's mine before the upgrades... (bone nut, gotoh bridge and tailpiece, custom 5 bridge, 59 neck (finally arriving in a week or 2).

Phil, that's a nice-looking SG. And you're right, they should be seen on stage more often.

Thanks man. Ebony was not my #1 choice of color for an SG, and to be honest I wasn't even looking for an SG, or a Gibson as a matter of fact, but the universe had other plans.Brought her on stage for 4 songs (in a 17 song set dominated by the PRS) in from of about 300 people a couple of weeks back, and she did really well.

I'm really starting to think that the SG is the supreme gibson design, after worshiping the LP for so long (but never getting along with them).

I'm an advocate for finding a guitar that sounds perfect off the rack, but I think this one would sound even better with Phat Cats. Might make the change.

My Faded SG and standard:

That collection of shiny white guitars is to die for man. I would rock any of those any day of the week.

Ain't no design any sleeker or sexier. I think SG's are definitely under-rated & under-represented. As a blues fan, I think the genre would be better served with more SG's and less Strats. The few SG's I see played by bluesmen always sound good. If I had a dollar for every schreechy Strat I've heard on stage...

Re: Show us your SGs!

Simon, what PU's do you have in your SG Custom? I have one of the milk white Epi SG Customs with a maestro, and I put in a C8/Phat CatN/'59N, with push-pulls for coil cut & phase.

Being short of the necessary cash for a set of gold-covered Duncans when I picked up the Epi I put a trio of Tonerider AC4's in it. They're Alnico 4 PAF clones - the poor man's Bare Knuckle Mule! I've used them before in other guitars and they are great for the price. The bridge AC4 is a keeper in this guitar, but I'm thinking of swapping the neck for an SD Jazz for a clearer top end. Undecided on the middle so far.

It is on my list of things to do to rewire this guitar with a blend pot for the middle and neck pickups as you suggested to me before. That sounds like a great idea. I'd wire it like a HH Gibson but replace the neck tone (which I never use) with a middle/neck blend pot. So the knobs would be bridge volume, bridge tone, neck/middle volume, neck/middle blend. The toggle switch would be bridge (down), neck/middle (up), bridge + neck/middle (centre). Others might opt for a master tone control but I like being able to play with the bridge tone backed off a bit while the neck tone is full up.
