I posted a thread not long ago asking for advice about particular Dimarzio neck picks. Was wondering has anyone ever tried a "Fred" in the neck position? I know this is normally a bridge pick up and Satriani sure seems to get a wonderful sound out of it. I assume he uses the bridge pickup much of the time but i am not sure. Any thoughts or experience with this particular pick up especially in the neck. GOD BlESS!!!!!!! :cool3:

I think satch uses PAF pro's in the neck or Joe Pafs.

Dimarzios website says that the Fred works good in the neck. But I don't know.

I just traded my JB for a Fred, I can't wait to try it out.

The Fred is an amazing pickup!!!!! I have it in the bridge on my Ibanez JS2000 and a PAF Pro in the neck. I never heard it in the neck position but i would imagine it would be great in there as well. I play mostly metal and to me the Fred is the best i have ever heard!!! You can play ANY style with Fred and it sounds outstanding!

I have seen that on the web-site but i am kind of approaching it with caution because the guitar in question is a semi-hollow non f- holed solid-top les paul type guitar and when i tried a duncan custom in the bridge it was a bit "muddy" to me, and the EQ on the FRED is very heavy in the mid frequencies. What makes me consider it is the sound that satch gets from it.
I am also thinking about a PAF pro or an evolution, or maybe an evo2. Open to ideas.
