Shred Video Clip

Re: Shred Video Clip

i know another guitarists from israel, he's 13 and he's already got a band and he's not bad on guitar either.. oh, and downloading your vid now, but i can already feel my hate meter rising

yup.. i hate you

you have a teacher? how long a day do you practice and play? do you dedicate hours just to practice one technique or just do what you feel like? and how much in the past 2 years have you played?

man i play for 6 years now and still cant pull that **** off.. but i'm not a dedicated guitar playercos i got ****loads of other things to take care off ... and i want a jackson damnit..

Re: Shred Video Clip

Does this video appear inverted/upsidedown? I can see him shred but its upside down. Good clip Dudu

Re: Shred Video Clip

many many thanks for all the kind words tonebro's
inter - i do feel starting out with classical guitar lessons has helped me acheive proper technique, i think i owe like 40% to classical guitar.
there is a "scene" but its very small in comparison to what goes on in america.

sly- thanks alot, i hope you're right. sweep picking is incredibly easy to do once you get the hang of it. the right hand movment is similar to the strumming of a chord but you must mute all the other strings but the one you play to get the arpeggio sweep effect.

davey- who is he? maybe i know him
why all the hate?! its not realy a nice thing for you to say.
i do have a teacher for jazz theory and improvisation, one lesson per week. i practice very freely, doing pretty much whatever i feel like doing. strict practicing of one technique is boring.
i've played alot in the past 2 years.

Re: Shred Video Clip

If someone says they hate you, it's because they're jealous of your chops and only that.

I'd like to ask a question - what basic stuff... like, don't throw me all these modes and stuff, but what do you practise to increase your speed and accuracy?

So bloddy talented you are.

Re: Shred Video Clip

best way is to learn songs.
i developed alot of speed learning Symphony X and Dream Theater stuff.
Yngwie Malmsteen (like him or hate him) has some great stuff to develop speed, alot of harmonic minor runs and stuff.

Re: Shred Video Clip

very good!

only thing i didnt like was the tone, it was a bit fuzzy for my liking.

i've found (if you used the POD) that using the 1x10 or first or second 1x12 cabs gives a good defined shred tone.. but thats also dependant on the amp model your using :)

Re: Shred Video Clip

Yeah, but how do you get to the stage where you're able to play Malmsteen and Symphony X stuff?

It's much too hard! I'll look at 'em now.

Re: Shred Video Clip

rainmaker.

get a metronome, and practise the stuff at a really slow pace, if you find yourself making mistakes, go even slower.

when you can play slow cleanly, kick it up another 10 or 15 bpm.

you'll reach that standard in a few months if you stick at it

warning.. you may get dreams that go like this though

BEEP click click click BEEP click click click BEEP click click click BEEP click click click

:D

Re: Shred Video Clip

LOL @ the beeps Nuntius! Good advice, I've used the Power Tab metronome.

When people mean perfectly.. what does that mean?

Everyone says play slow, and I can see why - but how slow?

Should my fretting hand be extremely relaxed?

Re: Shred Video Clip

rainmaker - being relaxed is one of the most important parts to trying to play fast

you should be relaxed enough to have a normal conversation whilst playing.. try it - even if its with your parents or something.

slow = a pace where you can comfortably play without making mistakes..

if you make mistakes go slower.. simple as. you'll eventually find a speed you can do it at (dont be embarassed at whatever this may be).

keep practising at this speed till you can do it faster.

a rule i use when practising is this - if i make one mistake i go back to the start of the piece.

if i do this 3 times, i have to play it slower.

dont let yourself get away with mistakes otherwise they will incorporate into your technique- which nobody wants

Re: Shred Video Clip

Oh btw, is the 3 Chromatic scale forms and the Harmonic minor scale a good place to start practising?

I'm gonna have to go buy a metronome now!!! :smack:
AMAZING job once again, my friend. :)

Re: Shred Video Clip

i tried playing with a metronome.. wtf am i supposed to do when it goes beep and what when it goes click? =P

plus, my sg is kind of frustrating me.. i dont know if it's the vibe of it or something. it's got a great riffing neck, but it's not really a fast neck.. i need to sell it and get me the dx10d and FAST!

oh and :hijacked: if everything goes well, i should have the guitar port by next week

Re: Shred Video Clip

fast neck?

hmm unless its a square i dont think it makes too much difference.

i prefer fatter necks because they sound and feel more solid to me.

well the beep usually signals the first beat of the bar, and the clicks the other ones.. so it gives you bearings where to count from

good luck with the guitar port, and if you want any of my patches PM me and i'll give you them :)

Re: Shred Video Clip

not that it's fat.. far from it. it's thin for even an SG, but it's got a black color finish on it, which i'm a bit reluctant to sand off so the hand doesnt slide as much as on a poly finish

thanks man.. i'll sure let ya'll know when i get it and be sure to hear from me about the patches and other settings

Re: Shred Video Clip

Damn impressive at your age. Without doubt, you have the talent to go far. About the tone issues some brought up, don't let it phase you - it's great lead tone...sure the video screws it up a little bit, but we've all heard your other clips - nothing short of spectacular.

Re: Shred Video Clip

guitarist - thanks. the tone issue, everything got crapified in this video, i tried to keep the quality down so people will be able to see it the same day they started downloading it.
if anyone has knowledge of how i could compress an .AVI* file or get a better size to quality ratio i'd love to hear it. :D

moom- sure thing ;)

Re: Shred Video Clip
