Sick of Vintage Rails(SVR-1)

after 8 long years ive gotten sick of the vintage rails in the neck position of my fender strat plus.tried it in the middle and hated it.the gold lace is there temporarily as i hate it as well.
even thow its double bladed,sounds very thin and not middy enough.
very piercing on the high notes.too shrill.
i wanna stick to duncans and fender single coils for both the good price and tone.
people recomended me the fender fat 50´s,and the duncan SSL-1 Vintage Staggered,and vintage flat
but im afraid it too could sound shrill being that it says on the duncan site about the SVR-1"Similar to Vintage Flat but with no noise. "
has to be good clean and distorted retaining the classic strat sound for jazz,blues and rock.

Try some cool rails, same hum cancleing but with a little more output and less present highs. If you don't want to go for any more rails, try the Alnico 2 pro staggered or flat, super sweet pickups, they might be a little weak to work with the JB though. Also have a peek at the stacks, classic and hot stacks.

Lots of guys used teh vintage staggered with the JB. If you want a more focused fatter sound I'd go with the flats.

I prefer the APS'. They are more OD/Dist friendly, and are overall smoother. I have the staggered in the neck middle, and a Flat in the bridge.

im afraid of the staggered and flat being similar sounding to my vintage rails..although acording to the sound samples theyare very little alike.
looking for a sound close to the texas special but better sounding...DUNCAN SOUNDING.

Before you do anything, make sure your Vintage Rails are adjusted properly. Because they are wired in parallel, they're more sensitive to string height. Try to get them around 3/16" from the strings and see if that improves the tone. (Not that I wouldn't want to see you buy another set of SDs, but you might not have to).

thanks Evan,there adjusted very low to the strings .i dont know exactly how low(we measure in cm).i do remember putting them closer to the strings a long time ago and hating them even more.
they are also very picky to string brands and tend to like 011´s.if i take away some treble from my classic 50 im fine with it...but still not THE STRAT TONE im after.
not exactly texas tone,but fatter sounding.i thought of the rio grandes but looks to me their all about the steve ray tone and im more of a clapton guy.

Try to get them around 4mm from the strings. If that doesn't help, then you should consider changing pickups.

The vintage rails sound stratty, but nothing sounds quite like the real deal. The Vintage Staggered will be close to the Texas Special, but not quite as hot. (about 1000 ohms less resistance)

For the hotter sound go with the Custom or Hot, they will be hotter than the TS' but will get you the hotter vintage sound.

seymours are all about vintage sound.and that s why im gonna listen to them sound samples over and over.might just keep the vintage rails for another future guitar.
