Siddhartha

Re: Siddhartha

very very very nice.

Some questions!

What guitar/amp/effects did you use?
Is fretless harder to play?
What inspired you to write this? And what artists play similar stuff?
Are you using any particular scale here?

cheers

Re: Siddhartha

Whoa...i just heard 'higher'.....!!!

Got any hints on how to master the ebow? I cant play anywhere as smooth as that

Re: Siddhartha

Very cool and meditative, and I love the loop in the background. Make more!

BTW, love the title as well. Hesse's one of my favorite authors.

i used my stagg(my first electric guitar which is unfretted now) -> boss me-50 (for delay and reverb)-> Mesa Boogie MarkIII

Fretless guitar is a bit tricky and is somethingyou have to get used to.It's harder have a good intonation especially when playing chords. You can't just play barre chords. It will sound horrible :)

I wrote it after a 5-day Mattias Eklundh workshop here in germany. He's very into Indian music now (he plays with Jonas Hellborg currently :) ). He gave us some sheets with exotic scales, which was very cool (we got about 50 sheets with exercises from him^^). Jonas Hellborg would be something for you if you liked that :)

In the beginning it's d-melodic-minor , i don'T remember the scale in this 'second' part. The third part is one of these exotic scales mattias gave us. It's called Rag-Shree. It's a indian scale (1-b2-3-#4-5-6-#7). I used it also in this song idea 'Time' on my soundclick page.

For the ebow question:
To get a smooth sound you should turn your Tone-knob down. I also turn the volume on the guitar to about 5)

"Siddhartha" was my first Hesse book; "Beneath the Wheel" was my second. Check out his collection of fairy tales. Fodder for more inspired music.

Re: Siddhartha

Very intersesting- I love it. Hesse is one of biggest inspirations. I've read almost everything of his numerous times. Lately Siddartha taught me a lot bout music. Every time you read his stuff, you find something else there that wasn't there the previous time. I also like Narcissus and Goldmund (sp) and Glass Bead Game. And damien....and Journey to the East...and .... :laugh2:

Re: Siddhartha

Very bold and very impressive! You have an enviable level of creativity to invent something like that. I am currently trying to break out of the classic rock rut, and listening to stuff like this is a big help in that regard. Thanks for posting it!
