Signature Guitar Co.

OK, anybody ever hear of these guys? A Canadian company that lasted about three years in the late 80's. Here's a link: http://www.geocities.com/signatureguitar/
I scored one of these at a pawn shop for 500 bucks (the 'Oracle' model)and wondered if that's what they're really worth. Solid workmanship and plays very nice. I had to replace the original Evans pickups, though. Those were way too trebly for my taste. I put a C-5 in the bridge and a DM Air Norton in the neck.

Never heard of them, but they're pretty cool looking guitars. Does yours have anything special inlayed at the 12th fret?

Yeah it does. "Guy Hanson". That was the previous owner. I should take it out and put Alex Lifeson's name on it instead. And then put it for sale on ebay :laugh2:

Re: Signature Guitar Co.

These were bitchin guitars in the 80's..... part of the Godin group of companies i thought but that site says that bolt on model's bodies and necks where made by Godin(subcontracted) and techs put them together near me in Aurora Ontario... Interesting read that article was.... I never knew that much about them. I wanted one of these really badly in 1988.... never did get one. The Signatures i thought were a better built Kramer... nice maple woods, cool floyds... $500 is not bad price if it's in great shape... Is that $500 American or Canadian..

I remember going into Steves Music on Queen Street in Toronto in 1988 and buying a Fender Princton Chorus Amp.. the guitar the salesman grabbed to let me play and try it out was a Signature... that was when i knew i wanted one.... never did get one

Guy i went to school with in the 80's worked in the summer at the plant that was producing Signatures..... he said it was like a dream seeing 30 floyds sitting ready to install on guitars...

They were uber-expensive back in the day...

Supposedly well made instruments...I've never played one, let alone seen one in person!

The only guy I can think of who played one was Alex Lifeson in the late '80's...around the time of the "Presto" record.

Well, it's not like I don't have a guitar with someone's name on it.

WhoFan: that's 500 American. I've heard of these going for a couple of hundred bucks a while back when the company went out of business and nobody ever heard of em. Mine belonged to a music store owner so he had a pretty good idea of what they were worth I guess.
All I can say is, if anyone ever runs into one for a good price get it! These are very well made guitars, everything about them is quality. The stock Evans humbuckers are very articulate but I needed some more mids. The Custom 5 in the bridge and the Air Norton in the neck took care of that. I guess I was hoping someone would chime in and tell me it's a collectors item and it's worth $2000 LOL.

Cool guitar for $500 none the less.... worth it for sure... If i found one in good shape i most likely would of gone higher myself. In the mid 90's i had a set of Evens Single Coils in a strat.... nice tone... they did remind me of Lace's but a bit thicker sounding...
